Dr. Travis Walker is a Wyoming native, born in Gillette and raised in Casper, Wy. After graduating from Kelly Walsh High School, he attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. Dr. Walker completed his Bachelor of Science degree in 2000 and a Master of Science degree in 2002, both in the field of Horticulture. After working in Denver at National Jewish Hospital studying Pseudomonas biofilms, he decided to enter the medical field. He earned his Medical Degree in 2008 from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, CO. He completed his five year general surgery residency training at the University of Colorado in 2013.
Dr. Walker is board certified by the American College of Surgeons. As a general surgeon, he specializes in the treatment of breast cancer, colon cancer, skin cancer including melanoma, gallbladder surgery, appendicitis, and hernia repair including laparoscopic options. He also performs colonoscopies and upper endoscopy or EGD.
Dr. Walker chose a career in general surgery because of the diversity within the field of surgery and the ability to care for his patients from the time they enter the operating room until they leave the hospital.
Along with his wife Dr. Jessica Walker, a family medicine doctor at the Lander Medical Clinic, and son Grady, the decision to move to Lander was centered on focusing on family and having the ability to practice medicine in an active, vibrant small town. In addition to spending time with family, Dr. Walker enjoys running, golfing, Nordic skiing, hunting and fishing.
